Mind Control Monthly was conceptualized and put together by Hunter Jackson / Techno Destructo â founding member of GWAR. Â It was meant to be a blatant GWAR propaganda leaflet, with the purpose of spreading the word of GWAR to an unsuspecting world and forcing them to think about GWAR and crave more!
Â
While it never came out monthly â GWAR did the best they could and released 30 black and white issues between 1990 and 1996. Each issue was dedicated to a different GWAR character. Also included in each issue was text from characters, newspaper clippings, show reviews, drawings, comics and a tease of what was next from an array of the artists.
Â
âBy the late eighties, it was clear to me that GWAR had the potential to conquer the universe. But for a bunch of nobodies from nowhere to make that happen out of nothing, we had to cultivate our audience. One of the first and most important things I did was insist that all our products had âFor more information on GWARâ and our mailing address.â Â - Hunter Jackson
